Book on Indian Army released
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari released a book on changing nature of military warfare, emerging geo-strategic environment, existential threat from India's nuclear armed adversaries and danger from terrorism.
The book, titled ''Indian Army Vision 2020,'' was released last evening at a function organised by Observer Research Foundation here.
The book is written by Brigadier (Retd) Gurmeet Kanwal.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Ansari said a book on Indian Army is always welcome. It presents facts about the Indian Army in a very simple manner.
''The names of unknown Indian soldiers will always remain in our memory,'' he added.
Earlier, former Army Chief General (Retd) V P Malik gave a brief description of the book.
The book also advocates that the Army must modernise its weapons and equipment and upgrade its combat potential by an order of magnitude in order to successfully face the new challenges.
It gives a scholar-warrior's view of the nation's defence preparedness, especially that of the Army, born of experience, and a close study of changing security environment.
