BJPKM urges centre for loan waiver
Jaipur, Apr 30 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha(BJPKM) has urged the Centre to waive all loans up to Rs 50,000 taken by farmers from banks as well as money lenders.
Talking to reporters here today Morcha Convener Vinod Pandey said the UPA government's Rs 70,000 crore farmers' loan waiver scheme was mere political gimmick and it was unlikely to provided relief to debt ridden farmers.
Mr Pandey said the farming community was in a bad economic condition and loans taken by them from money lenders were more troublesome to them.
The government should take immediate measures to address the situation, he urged.
Mr Pandey said the thrust should be given to make farm activities economically viable by ensuring beneficial crop prices.
He welcomed the Madhya Pradesh government's move for grant of payment of bonus on wheat purchase and said that governments in all other states should follow the same.
