Chennai, Apr 30 (UNI) Come May one, it's time for the kick off of the annual All India YSCA Trophy 30-overs limited overs cricket tournament.
Into its 39th edition, the popular event, eagerly looked forward to by various teams, including senior division outfits, colleges and schools, the tournament has got a new sponsor this year in the form of ICICI bank and ICICI Prudential Insurance.
The entire budget for the tournament, which has attracted 63 teams, including those from Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore and Mysore, would be equally shared by the two firms.
''We have made a provision for three more outstation teams- AIIMS, Delhi, Mumbai Colts and IOC, Mumbai. We are yet to get confirmation from them,'' YSCA organising secretary M S Gurumurthy told reporters here last night.
The tournament, beginning tomorrow, would be played under knock-out-cum-super league-cum-knock out basis.
After the knock out phase, the quarter finalists would be divided into two groups to be played on super-league basis.
The top two from each group would make it to the semifinal and the finals would be held under lights at M A Chidambaram stadium on July six.
The semi finals and the final would see players taking the field in coloured clothing and using the white ball.
The winner of the tournament would carry a prize money of Rs 25,000 and the runner-up Rs 15,000. Apart from this there would be cash awards for best batsmen, best bowler and player of the final.
Mr Sridhar Dharmapuri, Regional Head, ICICI, said his firm was looking forward for a long association with the YSCA.
