Puducherry,Apr 30 (UNI)The Puducherry Administration was taking steps to introduce Domestic Violence Act in the Union Territory,Welfare Minister M Kandasamy told the Legislative Assembly today.
Replying to a question,Mr Kandasamy said the Central Government order in this regard was received recently and the adminstration was taking steps to investigate such cases under the Act after completing all formalities to implement the law here.
To another question,Chief Minister N Rangasamy said the carat metre to identify the quality of gold at the Amudhasurabhi would function from May seven.
Two persons have been sent for training and will join duty on May seven.
Fifty tourist guides were working in Puducherry and 20 in Karaikal Region through a voluntary organisation.
The administration was paying Rs 3,990 per month towards the salary of each guide to the organisation.
Steps were being taken to provide them ID cards and uniforms, Tourism Minsiter Malladi krishna Rao said in replying to another question.
