New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) A ''fairly'' large number of records at the National Archives of India required preservation and restoration, the government informed the Rajya Sabha today.
But at the same time, fixing a reasonable time-frame to complete the restoration was not feasible as it was a continuous process, Minister of state for Tourism and Culture Kanti Singh said in a written reply.
The Conservation Division of the National Archives is involved in the chemical treatment, repair and rehabilitation of records of the government. But, the division works with the given infrastructure and staff to repair the damaged archival material.
However, the National Archives was making efforts to improve the annual repair rate by increasing the number of laminating machines, she added.
