MTC saves Rs 81 lakh from fuel conservation measures
Chennai, Apr 29 (UNI) After launching fuel conservation measures, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has saved Rs 81 lakh in the month of April alone.
An MTC release here said the Corporation, which had announced a series of cost cutting measures, achieved a major breakthrough in fuel conservation and was able to save a substantial amount.
After achieving the 4.2 km per litre of diesel target, in April, the Corporation had saved Rs 81 lakh and decided to honour drivers, who had achieved five km per litre of diesel target.
Transport minister K N Nehru would honour 51 such drivers by presenting them prizes at a function here tomorrow, the release said.
The minister would also inaugurate the Fuel Injection Test Bench facility, release a service manual on hi-tech BSIII buses for the benefit of drivers and distribute pay arrears to 20,000 employees at the function, it said.
