New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) A city court today charged eight policemen of the Delhi Police in a fake encounter case.
Additional Sessions Judge D K Sharma framed charges against constable Ashok Kumar and seven other policemen for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, murder, destruction of evidence and various other Sections of the IPC.
On July 31, 2006, these policemen had allegedly picked up two people, Najakat and Zulfikar Ali from the Ghaziabad Court premises and brought them to the Timarpur area of North Delhi and shot them dead.
The family of the deceased filed a complaint before the District Administration, Ghaziabad. Later on, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police.
In the preliminary investigation, it had came to light that the deceased were accused of murdering Ashok's brother, Digambar, in the year 2003.
One of the accused, Pramod Tyagi, Sub-Inspector with the Delhi police had been declared PO (Proclaimed Offender) in the case.
The court, however, discharged Navprabhat, who was named an informer in the case.
