Cong leader alleges illegal liquor distribution
Mysore, Apr 29 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader N Viswanath today urged the District Election Officer to take necessary action to stop the alleged distribution of liquor and rampant corruption by way of distributing gifts in Krishnaraja Nagara Assembly constituency in the district.
Talking to newspersons, Mr Viswanath alleged that ''a JD(S) candidate is using the Karnataka Milk Federation vehicles to transport liquor to the constituency'' and demanded a thorough check by the officials during night. He also urged them to form a special squad to check such ''malpractices.'' Mr Viswanath commended the District Election Officials for their strict implementation of various measures and enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in the district.
Mr Viswanath, who is contesting from K R Nagara constituency, had indicated that this would be the last election in his political career and this was to facilitate the entry of youngsters into politics.
