Notorious Rowdy Gang arrested, arms seized

Bangalore, Apr 28 (UNI) The Organised Crime Wing of City Crime Branch have arrested a gang of five notorious rowdies, including one from Mumbai, and recovered a catche of fire arms including a SBBL Short Gun and two pistols, City Police Commissioner Neelam Achyuth Rao said today.

Addressing newspersons here, Mr Rao said that following a tip-off the CCB team swooped upon the gang of Khaleel alias Tharakari Khalees waiting to attack their rival gang leader Rowdy Thanveer near Wilson Garden area in the city last night.

The culprits who were waiting to way lay Tanveer and his associates taken aback with the arrival of police and surrendered without any resistance. The arrested included Tarakari Khaleel, Jameer AHamed, Ashraf, Nadeem and Mumbai based Lallu Bhavaji Bhai Patil.

Mr Rao said that the arrested gang leader Tarakari Khaleel was involved in over than 30 criminal cases including murders, extortion, attempt to murder, dacoity and robbery in various police stations in the city.

He said that the CCB police have recovered One SBBL short gun, Two pistols, Two revolvers, 27 live cartridges, two mobile phones and also two vehicles from their possession.

Replying to a question, Mr Rao said that the motive behind the planned attack on Rowdy Tanveer was mainly old rivalry and the accused had managed to get arms from Uttar Pradesh to accomplish their attack.

Mr Rao said that the city police also arrested a inter-state gang and seized two luxury cars worth over Rs 25 lakhs from them. The arrested were allegedly in the business of stealing luxury cars and selling them.
