Tiruchirapalli, Apr 28 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Agriculture Marketing and Agriculture Business Department(TNAMABD) and Tiruchirapalli Market Committee(TMC) have decided to establish new farmers markets at Musiri in Tiruchirapalli District, Pallapatti in Karur District and Jayankondam in Ariyalur District shortly, according to Committee Chairman N Jothikannan.
Participating in the golden jubilee celeberations of the TMC here yesterday, Mr Jothikannan also pointed out that two farmers' market were proposed, at Srirangam and Tiruverumbur.
There were 18 agriculture regulatory markets all over Tamil Nadu earning an annual revnue of Rs two crore, selling Rs 45 crore worth agricultural produce every year.
Committee Secretary M Saratha said efforts were on to establish an exclusive market for Banana at Katturputhur in Tiruchirapalli District with cold storage facility. Apart from this, it was proposed to establish six drying yards in Perambalur District each at a cost of Rs 25 lakh,she added.
