Inter-school debate competition in HP from Apr 30
Shimla, Apr 28 (UNI) Sixteen prestigious public schools from across the country are participating in the thirteenth Dr Samuel Slater Memorial Invitational Inter-school English Debates being held in the Asia's first public school, Bishop Cotton School, here from April 30.
The Dr Samuel Slater Memorial Invitational Inter-school Debates, which were revived in 1996 after 136 years, would witness best students of these public schools hold debates and discussions over 40 current topics for the next four days.
Besides, BCS, Shimla, other schools participating in debate competition included Auckland School, Shimla, Bishop Cotton Girls School Bangalore, Cathedral and John Connon Mumbai, La La Martiniere Girls College Lucknow, Loreto House Kolkata, Mayo College for Girls Ajmer, RIMC Dehra Dun, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya Gwalior, St James School Kolkata, The Assam Valley School Assam, The Doon School Dehra Dun, The Sri Ram School Delhi, The Vasant Valley School Delhi and Welham Girls School Dehra Dun.
The pre-quarter final of the event would be held on May one, followed by quarter finals the next day and semi-final and finals on May three.
The event has been named after Reverend Samuel Slater, the school's first Headmaster, who had served the school for twenty years.
