Port Blair, Apr 28 (UNI) A 14-year-old girl of Diglipur in North Andaman has been murdered and her body chopped into pieces by four young boys from her area, police said today.
After preliminary investigation, police said the four boys took the ninth standard girl to a secluded place with the intention to rape.
''But when the girl refused to cooperate, they murdered her and left her body hidden in a remote place under the camoflage of leaves and trees,'' Deputy Superintendent of Police of North Andaman Daya Shankar Singh told UNI.
The body was recovered yesterday after interrogating the boys, three of whom were students of ninth and tenth standard in a local school here.
During interrogation, the boys revealed the location where they had hidden the body.
''We have recovered the body yesterday and arrested all the four boys for killing the minor girl,'' Mr Singh added.
Meanwhile, the entire Middle and North Andaman region was tense today with all shops and business establishments remaining closed.
There were some minor incidents of violence in reaction to the murder among the local villagers.
