Dismiss Mayawati government: Nikam
Nashik, Apr 28 (UNI) Republican Party of India (RPI) senior leader Dadabhau Nikam today demanded dismissal of the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh over the ''detention'' of RPI president Ramdas Athawale.
''Everyone has the right to go anywhere in the country. This act of Mayawati is a murder of democracy,'' Mr Nikam said while speaking to reporters here.
''We will not keep quiet. We will continue the agitation till the dismissal of the Mayawati government,'' Mr Nikam added.
Nashik district RPI president Prakash Londhe said the agitation will be held in a democratic and peaceful manner. ''We strongly condemn the act of the UP government,'' Mr Londhe said while challenging Mayawati to visit Nashik. If she enters Nashik, she will receive a tit-for-tat answer, he said.
Mr Nikam and Mr Londhe said a party meeting will soon be held to chalk out the course of action.
