AIADMK stages demo seeking DMK Govt's resignation
Chennai, Apr 28 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK in Tamil Nadu today staged a statewide demonstration, demanding resignation of the DMK Government, for allegedly tapping the phones of Opposition leaders and officials in the state.
As directed by Party Supremo J Jayalalithaa, party cadres, from various wings, thronged the district headquarters and denounced the DMK regime for ''indulging'' in the ''anti-democratic'' act.
Calling upon the partymen to stage the demonstration, Ms Jayalalithaa had said that when former Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde and former US President Nixon faced a similar charge, they stepped down owning moral responsibility.
Similarly, Mr Karunanidhi, heading the DMK Government, should resign owning moral responsibility for indulging in ''anti-democratic'' act which ''infringed'' human rights, she had said.
While Party Presidium Chairman E Madusoodanan led the agitation in Kancheepuram, Senior Leaders C Ponnaiyan, O Panneerselvam, K A Sengottayan and D Jayakumar led the agitation in Pollachi, North Chennai, South Chennai and Cuddalore respectively.
