Bhubaneswar, Apr 27 (UNI) Internationally acclaimed sand artiste Sudarsan Pattnaik from Orissa has been selected for the first International Sand Sculpture Championship 2008 to be held in Moscow.
The sand sculpture competition will commence from May 23 next and would continue till June 1.
Sources today said Mr Pattnaik would represent India in the competition, in which sand artists from ten countries including Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Russia and Canada will participate.
The Oriya sand artiste, who had so far participated in as many as 35 such international championships across the world and won many awards for the country, had received the invitation for the Moscow Championship from Director of Selection Committee Pavel Zadanyuk. He would be carving a 20-ft high sculpture within six days.
