SC to pronouce verdict on two senior police officers tomorrow
New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The Supreme Court will pronounce tomorrow its verdict on the bail applications of two senior police officers, including an IPS officer who are in jail for their alleged involvement in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
A bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat will pronounce the verdict on the bail applications of former SP Udaipur, Rajasthan Dinesh M N and former DSP Gujarat police Narendra Kumar Amin.
The two police officers along with former DIG STF, Gujarat police D G Vanzara are facing trail for allegedly eliminating Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter in November 2005.
Later, the Gujarat government admitted in the Supreme Court that Kauser Bi, wife of Sohrabuddin might have also been killed.
The two officers were earlier granted bail which was subsequently cancelled.
The two petitioners are seeking bail on the ground that the investigations in the case was already complete and the chargesheet has already been filed in the court.
Hence, their detention in jail is unjustified and therefore they should be released on bail till the completion of trail in the case.
The Supreme Court has already declined to order CBI inquiry into the case and has found the investigations carried out by the Gujarat police satisfactory.
The Central government has however supported the demand for CBI inquiry but the Narendra Modi government in the state has been strongly opposing the demand by Rubabudin Sheikh, brother of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
