Jammu, Apr 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA) today felicitated the medal winners of last year's 33rd National Games held at Guwahati, at a function held here this evening.

In all seventeen players, who represented state in different events of sports and six coaches, were bestowed with mementoes and cash rewards by the State Olympic Association for their outstanding performances at national level.

Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma and Sports Minister Haji Nissar Ali, who were the chief guest and guest of honour on the occasion, announced funds to develop infrastructure of state sports and also assured better facilities to the players.

In the history of sports, the Jammu and Kashmir State for the first time won maximum 17 medals including three-gold, five-silver and nine-bronze at the 33rd National Games held at Guwahati, Assam in 2007.

Meanwhile the gold medalists were Kuldip Handoo and Arun Charak (wushu), Mitali (gymnastics).

Silver medalists wee Zahoor Ahmed (kayaking), Lucky Singh, Rasheed, Maninder and Ujjawal Gupta (fencing).

Bronze medalists included Ravinder Bhushan (boxing), Parvez Ahmed (kayaking), Rakesh Singh (wushu), Sanjeev Suri, Shivani Hans, Nirza, Dimple Thappa, Shafali and Suniya (fencing).

Moreover, coaches Shotu Lal, Rachna Jamwal (fencing), S P Singh, Krupali Patel, Manisha Gupta (gymnastics) and Anil Wadhera (boxing) were also honoured by the association.
