New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) Twice world under-8 girls' champion Ivana Furtado of Goa will be the star attraction in the Girls' section of the Parsvnath National Under 9 chess championships that gets underway here tomorrow.
Ivana will be the cynosure of all eyes and starts as the favourite in her section. The Goan girl created a record of sorts by winning the under-8 girls title in the world youth chess championships at Antalaya, Turkey, last year and she is considered a future Grandmaster material according to the experts of the game.
The local challenge in the open section will be spearheaded by Harshal Shahi.
The tournament, which will determine the Indian representative for the next Under-10 world championship to be held later this year at Vietnam, will also see a few rated International rated players in action.
In all, around 300 participants are expected to take part.
