Bravo, Nayar take Mumbai Indians past 150 against Deccan Chargers

By Staff

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) Abhishek Nayar and Dwayne Bravo played two cameo innings to take Mumbai Indians to a competitive score of 153 for seven in their allotted 20 overs after being put into bat by Deccan Chargers in their DLF Indian Premier League match being played at the D Y Patil stadium near here today.

Deccan Chargers now need 155 runs in 20 overs to notch up their first win in the tournament.

Put into bat, the Mumbai Indians started off with a flourish when Luke Ronchi flicked the first ball of the match from R P Singh to the fine leg fence for a boundary. He then followed it up with two more boundaries in the second over bowled by Nuwan Zoysa.

However, Ronchi played a horrible shot in the next over to script his own downfall when he gave slip catching practice to V V S Laxman at first slip of R P Singh to be dismissed for 13 which came of 11 balls and had three hits to the fence. Mumbai Indians were 15 for 1 in the third over at that time.

Young Mumbai Ranji batsman Ajinkya Rahane playing his first match of the IPL, also did not last long being dismissed without opening his account when he trying to clear the square leg fence ended up giving a tame catch to Pragyan Ojha at the square leg fence of Sanjay Bangar.

Robin Uthappa the next man in then hit a clean straight shot of Shahid Afridi only to fall the next ball as he tried to cut Afridi who pushed the ball through. The ball took Uthappa's bat's edge through to keeper Adam Gilchrist. Uthappa made six and Mumbai Indians were left in all sorts of problems at 27 for three in the sixth over.
