Srinagar, Apr 27: The defence authorities in the Kashmir division have decided to conduct recruitment rallies for the candidates of all districts of the valley and Ladakh region next month.
Additional Commissioner Kashmir giving details about these rallies said a recruitment rally was being conducted at Chamkote in the frontier district of Kupwara from May 11 to May 13, 2008 for the aspirants of the border town of Tangdhar.
A similar rally will be held at Kupwara from May 15 to May 20, for candidates of Kupwara, Baramulla, Srinagar, Anantnag, Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Shopian, Kargil and Leh.
The written test would be conducted on May 25, 2008, he said.
This is for the first time that Army is conducting recruitment rallies for the candidates of Kashmir valley and Ladakh region after eruption of militancy in late Eighties.
However, several hundred youths, including those who have surrendered and joined the national mainstream, have joined Army and other paramilitary forces in the valley during the past ten years.
