AP CM urges MRPS leader to call off stir
Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today appealed to 'Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi' (MRPS) founder-President Manda Krishna Madiga to give up his fast-unto-death, launched on April 26 in the city.
The hunger strike was launched, demanding the categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs) into four groups for reservation and enactment of a Legislation in this regard.
In an official release here, Dr Reddy said a High-Level Committee was constituted to look into the issue and the State Government had taken up the matter with the Centre.
Stating that the government had no hesitation in implementing the recommendations approved by the Centre, he said his goverment had been implementing several welfare and developmental programmes for the SCs.
Dr Reddy appealed to the 'Mala Mahanadu,' opposing the categorisation, not to adopt agitational path as the government was committed to resolve the issue amicably.
