AFT Mill workers call bandh in Puducherry
Puducherry, Apr 27 (UNI) Workers of the Government-owned Anglo-French Textile mills here, who are on an indefinite relay fast demanding central Dearness Allowance to them on par with the officers and staffs of the mill has called for a 12-hour bandh tomorrow to press their demand.
The workers had sought the support of all political parties and public to make their agitation, a sucess.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said all government offices would function as usual and government buses would ply here tomorrow.
Talking to newspersons after a meeting with senior police officials on the preparation to handle the bandh, Mr Rangasamy said adequate security measures would be taken to maintain law and order during the bandh.
Eventhough the mill was running on huge losses, all the genuine demands of the workers were being implemented to ensure their welfare. The bandh at this stage was unwarranted, he added.
