Kochi, Apr 26: A two-day International Conference on shipbuilding and conversion technology and a maritime exhibition 'ShipTek 2008' will begin here on April 29, showcasing the latest technology and trends in the Shipbuilding Industry.
Talking to newspersons here today, Sohan Roy, CEO, Aries Group, a ship design and consultancy firm in the West Asia, said the conference and exhibition were being organised by his group in association with Marine BizTV, a maritime television channel.
Nearly 300 delegates from 14 countries would participate in the conference, at which 22 paper presentations would be made.
In other interesting side-events during the conference, a Hollywood film ''The Launch of DAM'', will be announced and the second edition of the International Maritime Video awards would also be held.
On May one, the world's first and longest steel snake boat 'Aries Chundan', which was already listed in the Limca Book of Records, will be showcased. The boat was also in line to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, Mr Roy added.
Among the exhibitors at the maritime expo will be Keppel O &M and MSI, Singapore; Class NK, Japan; Walport International, UK; Transas, Russia; Fogtec, Germany; Panasonic, Singapore; Pacific Technology, UAE and Nederman&Co, Sweden.
The conference will have four sessions on the major themes of demand and future of shipbuilding around the world, new trends in shipbuilding, repair and conversions, ship financing, shipbuilding softwares, Indian shipbuilding scenario, classification societies and rules for new shipbuilding.
