Hardoi, Apr 26 (UNI) The high profile murder case of Shashi seems to have taken a new turn with police suspecting a body recovered from this district to be hers.
Police Superintendent Pradeep Chandra today said he had written a letter to Shashi's family to allow her blood sample to be sent to a health centre at Sandila for DNA test.
However, police are still awaiting their reply.
Shashi, the alleged paramour of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA and former minister Anand Sen Yadav, had gone missing on October 20 last year.
Police had arrested the minister's driver, who had confessed to committing the crime, saying he threw Shashi's body into a river.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had removed Anand from the cabinet.
On October 26, just six days after Shashi went missing, police had found a beheaded body, whose hands were also chopped off, from Izatnagar village of Kasimpur colony.
''As the body remained unclaimed, our suspicion is becoming stronger,'' police sources said.
