Kishtwar turns into a citadel before PM's arrival
Kishtwar, J&K Apr 26 (UNI) With a large number of security personnel patrolling the roads, this hilly town has virtually turned into a fortress ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's arrival here today.
Meanwhile, dancing to the beats of traditional 'dhol', people from adjoining areas, including Congress supporters, have started gathering in 'Chowgaan' (open ground) where the Prime Minister will address a public rally.
Three-tier security arrangements were put in place to check any untoward incident during the Prime Minister's visit, who had arrived in Jammu on a two-day official visit yesterday.
In view of the terror threats, extra deployments of Army, CRPF and BSF were made to sanitise the vital areas in and around Kishtwar town.
The entire area, including the venue where the Prime Minister will address the public rally, has been sanitised.
All major links to the town were being strictly manned by paramilitary and state police.
Dr Singh will dedicate to the nation the 390 MW Dul-Hasti hydro electric power project, the foundation stone of which was laid down by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in year 1983.
