Gulbarga, Apr 26: Election officials have seized a helicopter used by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President M Mallikarujun Kharge and arrested the pilot on charges of landing without permission and tresspassing.
Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey said the helicopter carrying Mr Kharge landed at the District Armed Reserve Force (DARF) ground last night without obtaining prior permission.
On receiving a complaint from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DARF), District Superintendent of Police Manish Kabirkar visited the spot and took a statement from pilot Ashok Mahant.
A case under section 447 of IPC was registered for criminal tresspass.
Mr Kharge came here from Bengalore by the helicopter to address a party workers convention last night.
District Court Magistrate Joshi ordered release of Pilot Ashok Mahant on bail and posted further hearing to April 28.
District Congress President Allam Prabhu Patil said that permission was obtained by Central Revenue Department. DCC has filed an affidavit in the court seeking release of the helicopter.
