Puducherry, Apr 26 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the DMK today urged the administration to take immediate steps to abolish the entrance examination for admission to professional courses in the Union Territory.
In a statement here, Puducherry DMK convener R V Janakiraman pointed out that Puducherry was ''interlocked'' with Tamil Nadu and hence, the DMK had raised its voice both inside and outside the Assembly for the abolishment of the examination.
It was announced that the GO, abolishing the examination, was issued on April 21. The parents and students were ''confused'' as the government had not taken any further steps in this regard stating that the Lt Governor had sought some clarifications on the issue, he said.
Mr Janakiraman pointed out that the people would lose faith in the Assembly if the policy decisions taken on the Floor of the House would be not implemented.
Stating that some people had moved the court against the abolishment of the examination, he suggested the administration to highlight the valid legal points adopted by the Tamil Nadu Government in the High Court and the Supreme Court in this issue and employ the services of eminent advocates.
If the government failed to abolish the examinations, the dignity of the Assembly would be totally lost, he added.
