Tiruchirapalli Apr 26 (UNI) The Central Prison authorities of Tiruchirapalli had transferred four inmates to the Central Prisons at Vellore, Puzhal, and Cuddalore, yesterday.
Police said Ramesh, a double murder case accused from Dindigul was transferred to Puzhal Central Prison, while Nainar Mohammed a notorious smuggler of Tiruchirapalli to Vellore Central Prison.
Two other accused, Anand of Pattukkottai and Hirudayaraj of Thanjavur were transferred to Central Prison at Cuddalore.
The transfers were effected as the prisoners were violating the rules and regulations of prisons by using mobile phones and ordering food from outside, allegedly with the connivance of prison officials. They also indulged in physical assaults among the prisoners.
The illegal activities of the prisoners came to the fore, following a surprise raid conducted in the prison by a high-level team, police added.
