BJP general strike on May 2: Venkaiah
Bhopal, Apr 26 (UNI) Slamming the Centre's policies as being responsible for galloping inflation, former Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu today said that the BJP would stage a pan-India ''general strike'' on May 2.
''It is the most ineffective regime since independence and has no control over skyrocketing prices despite three eminent economists being part of government. That shows the Centre has no clear and far-reaching policy,'' he told journalists after inaugurating a media room at the BJP's state office here.
Alleging that the Left parties showed outward protest but inwardly gave a ''green signal'' to the government, Mr Naidu added that May 2 would witness demonstrations and traders would be urged to protest voluntarily.
''If the BJP comes to power at the Centre then it will make right to foodgrain a fundamental right,'' he said.
