Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was slapped with a showcause notice by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asking why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for allegedly slapping Sreesanth in Mohali.
Harbhajan, the stand-in captain for Mumbai Indians has been asked to respond by Monday, BCCI secretary Ratnakar Shetty said.
''At this point of time, we have issued a show cause notice.
Harbhajan is a contracted player of BCCI. The Indian cricket board itself has a code of conduct for players. BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah has issued a show cause notice and he has to respond by Monday,'' Shetty added.
Kings XI captain Yuvraj Singh has condemned the whole incident but said that everything has been sorted out between the two bowlers after Harbhajan apologised to Sreesanth.
''It was unacceptable what happened,'' Mohali captain Yuvraj Singh said after the match. ''Harbhajan came back to the dressing room and apologised to Sreesanth.'' However, Harbhajan has denied media reports saying he did not slap Sreesanth and the issue is being exagerated.
''It is not such a big issue the way people are making it out to be," he told mediapersons. ''It is between me and Sree. What you're showing on TV, it is between us,'' Harbhajan said.
