Pudukkottai, Apr 26: Normal life in this district of Tamil Nadu was affected today, as many shops, establishments and business organisations remained closed and road transport came to a grinding halt in response to the bandh call given by the Pudukottai Lok Sabha Retrieval Committee .
The Committee in protest against the Election Commission's(EC) do-away-Pudukkottai Lok Sabha constituency in its recent Delimitation exercise, said it would continue its stir for the retrieval of the Constituency.
Xavier, President of the Committee, in a press release here said if the Election Commission fails to response to their third phase of agitation, they would urge the people to surrender their voters identity cards to the EC in their fourth phase of agitation.
Police said essential services were maintained. The security had been tightened to avoid any untoward incident.
