Madikeri, Apr 25 : Kodlu is a neglected village situated near Madikeri with a pristine forest, valleys and mountains providing a breath taking view.

The beauty of nature fills the eyes of tourists. But drops of tears roll down the cheeks of villagers here.

They allege that they are a cursed lot. Politicians living around are a happy lot as they are only self aggrendising with roads, electricity, telephone links and water connections only for themselves.

''Officials plunder funds in the name of forming roads or providing water,'' a villager alleges. The people here have to tread 12 kilometre to hit the main roads to reach schools, towns and hospitals.

The villagers held a protest two days ago under the leadership of Stree Shakthi Manu Muddappa, Chengappa and others to protest the total neglect of their village by the politicians and the officials and the lack of basic amenities.

Hence, they have declared that they would boycott next month's assembly elections.

They also alleged that they laid the 'Nangala-Hattihole' road all by themselves, 20 years back.

Presently, officials and contractors were drawing money on the pretext of applying tar to the road, every year, another villager said.

''The politicians and members of the Zilla Panchayat are all hand in glove with the nexus of officials and contractors,' they alleged.

''We are definitely going to boycott the election,'' the villagers said.
