US company to light streets of Punjab
Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) After lighting Indore and Ujjain, a US-based Econoler International is all set to light the streets of Municipal Areas of Punjab with energy saving lights.
Mr Leon Biaou, Managing Director of Econoler International today held a meeting with Punjab Science and Technology Minister Bikram Singh Majithia to explain the conceptual plan of the company in providing energy efficient street lights to the Municipal Areas of the state.
Mr Biaou said his company has already successfully completed the self financing energy efficient street light projects for Indore and Ujjain which resulted in annual power saving of 35 per cent. This has helped the company to recover the cost of project within three years.
The company woill suggest latest technology to the Municipal Corporations and the state will not have to spend a single penny in upgrading the street light infrastructure, he said, adding that Energy Saving Companies would bid for every MC and recover the cost of the project from the energy saved by the new lighting system.
Appreciating the novel project, Mr Majithia said the Science and Technology department will facilitate the project and coordinate with the Local Government Department for its successful execution.
He said a team of the Science and Technology and Local Government Departments will visit Indore and Ujjain to study the operational success of the project in the two cities.
Mr A S Chhatwal, Secretary Science and Technology and Mr T P S Sidhu, CEO Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) were also present in the meeting.
