Sonia Gandhi's visit nothing to do with Panchayat poll : Priya
Kolkata, Apr 25 (UNI) Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi today said All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi's April 28 visit to Malda and Murshidabad districts of West Bengal has nothing to do with the coming Panchayat election.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Dasmunshi said, '' Ms Gandhi will not address any election rally. She will address two party meetings - one at Sujapur in Malda and another at Berhampore in Murshidabad - where she will be accorded a warm welcome for waiving the Rs 60,000 crore farmers' loan. '' Ms Gandhi was actually supposed to visit the state on April 21 to attend former Railway Minister ABA Ghani Khan Chaudhury's third death anniversary function, but it was cancelled due to the 'Bangla Bandh'.
Ms Gandhi would be accompanied by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Mr Dasmunshi himself and veteran Congress leader Mohsina Kidwai.
Later, she would proceed to Purnea in Bihar from where she would leave for Delhi.
