New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) Swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag today credited his wife and son for his hurricane knock during the Delhi Daredevils' victory over Deccan Chargers in the ongoing IPL tournament.

''The T20 format requires you to score as many runs as possible.

We were chasing 140. After reaching 50, I wanted to play shot off every delivery, so that the game could finish fast. My wife and son were waiting for me and I was in a hurry,'' Sehwag told Samay, Sahara India TV network's national news channel.

''I didn't know that I took only 41 deliveries to make 94 not out,'' he added.

Sehwag had smashed an unbeaten 94 off just 41 deliveries to guide Delhi Daredevils to a nine wicket over Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad on April 22.

The Delhi Daredevils captain lauded the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for launching the IPL.

''This is a great opportunity for the under-19 and under-22 players to play in front of 25,000 people. They get a chance to showcase their talent in to live audience, too,'' he said. ''The ones who do well can rise to India ranks.'' The Delhi dasher said he enjoyed the leadership role in a team that has the likes of Glenn McGrath, Farvez Mahroof, New Zealand Daniel Vettori and Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik but modestly avoided staking claims to India captaincy.

''Anil Kumble is a very good captain and in his absence Mahendra Singh Dhoni did a very good job,'' he said.

His penchant for a simple, honest approach came through when he spoke of how it was important to support anyone who had been named captain.

''I'm a team man. For me, the team's success is more important than my own. Whether I'm on the field or off it, I always make my suggestions to the captain.'' The only Indian to score two triple centuries in Test cricket, Sehwag is aware that he needs to regain his touch in the one-day game.

''In ODIs, I go for shots and lose my wicket. However, in Tests, I focus on playing session by session. If in a Test match, I get to 100 in 40 overs, I am sure I can do that in ODIs too. It is just that I need a change of mindset,'' he remarked.
