RS plunges into pandemonium, adjourned till tomorrow
New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha plunged into pandemonium today for nearly 90 minutes in the post-lunch session after which it was adjourned for the day on the issue of eviction of AIADMK member V Maitreyan with the opposition members vociferously demanding revocation of the ruling.
As soon as the House re-assembled in the post-lunch session at 1400 hrs, opposition BJP and SP members were on their feet demanding that Dr Maitreyan's eviction be revoked and he be called back in the House.
Earlier during Question Hour, Dr Maitreyan was asked by Chairman Hamid Ansari to leave the House after the AIADMK member repeatedly disrupted the proceedings on the issue of Shipping Minister T R Baalu allegedly misusing his position by asking GAIL to provide gas to companies with which his family was associated.
After the House-re-assembled, the BJP members shouted slogans caling for their rights to be protected.
Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj urged Mr P J Kurien, who was in the Chair, to adjourn the House till 1600 hrs to sort out the matter.
