Nahan, Apr 25 (UNI) Protesting the Congress government's failure to develop Haripurdhar area of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh, three former party leaders today changed the name of three-day district level fair from Dr Y S Parmar Fair to Maa Bhangiyani Matta Mela.

''As a protest against the Congress government, we have decided to change the name of the fair to Maa Bhangiyani Matta Mela,'' Sahi Ram, Tulsi Ram and Balbir Singh, who had resigned from the Congress just before the Assembly elections to join the BJP, told UNI here.

Mr Parmar is the founder and first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and belongs to Sirmaur district of the state.

They said the fair was named Dr Y S Parmar Memorial Tournament and Fair and celebrated every year from May 2 to 4 for the last 25 years.

However, following promise by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to initiate steps to develop the area, they have decided to change the name and dates of the fair from this year, the leaders said.

Accusing the Congress leaders of using them for their electoral gains only, they said the people of the area haD awoken to their rights and would not allow the politicians to take them for a ride.
