New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Agitated over the rising prices of essential commodities, the opposition NDA today stalled the proceedings of the Lok Sabha towards the end of the question hour at 1200 hrs, forcing the adjournment of the House till 1400 hrs.
The opposition members, who were agitating within the precincts of Parliament House since morning, came into the House minutes before the zero hour, shouting slogans.
''Mehangayi ko jo rok na paye, vo sarkar nikhammi hai (The government which could not check the price rise is useless),'' the members shouted and stormed the well, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Amid the din, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee asked the members, who had been listed, to lay papers. Even after this, pandemonium prevailed despite the pleas of the chair.
The Speaker said it was very unfortunate that the members were not heeding his pleas despite his announcement that he would allow the price rise issue to be raised in the House.
''With strong condemnation, I am adjourning the House till 2 pm,'' Mr Chatterjee said.
