Chennai, Apr 25 (UNI) A 'Gayle 'storm may not hit the M A Chidambaram stadium after the explosive contest in the first ever competitive match in this format here was lapped up on Wednesday, but a battle royale is a certainty as Chennai Super Kings take on Kolkata Knight Riders in what would be the third outing in the Indian Premier League(IPL) for both here tomorrow.
The Kolkata team is strengthened by the arrival of Caribbean opener Chris Gayle, but he is still recovering from a groin injury.
The Knight Riders, who practised under lights after the team arrived here today, also seem to be a stronger bowling side with Ishant Sharma leading the bowling attack to contain the strong Chennai Super Kings batting.
Speaking after the Super Kings had a work out at the nets this morning, the Chennai team's coach Keppler Wessels said the Kings have included Stephen Flemming for Anirudha Srikkanth as the only change in their 16-member squad ahead of their game against Kolkata Knight Riders.''They are a pwerful team'', the former South African and Australian batsman said.
The lone change points to the likelihood of a reshuffle in the playing eleven.
Already a sell out, from the revenue point of view for the Cricket Board, the contest, which would open to the entertainment show from famous singer Shankar Mahadevan and the Chennai team's 'Star ambassador' film star Vijay's presence, is already being billed as a ''blockbuster'' and the ''biggest'' encounter.
Wessels asserted that every contest in the 14 league matches-seven home and seven away) was crucial.
''It is too early to say whether this is a big match, but for us, each of the 14 games are crucial. They are all big and tough encounters,'' Wessels said.
