Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 25 (UNI) India Post will launch an electronic international money order service between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from tomorrow.
This would facilitate reliable transfer of money from the UAE to India cheaply and quickly, a statement said here today.
Fifty-one Head Post Offices in the state and Mahe sub-post office would provide this service, it added.
Under the service, a single money order issued by Emirates Post for payment in India shall not exceed 2,500 dollars or its equivalent. In an year, only 12 money orders addressed to a beneficiary would be allowed.
While amounts up to Rs 20,000 would be paid at the payee's address in cash, amounts between Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000 would be paid across the post office counter and those exceeding Rs 50,000 would be payable by cheque, the statement said.
The service, using Universal Postal Union's secure International Finance system, would be formally launched at Thiruvananthapuram GPO tomorrow by Dr Uday Balakrishnan, Chief Postmaster General, Kerala Circle.
