Shimla, Apr 25 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said his government would be taking necessary steps to fill up the vacancies by empanelment of technical assistants besides filling up of 40 posts of junior engineers in Gram Panchayats.
Addressing a deputation of technical assistants here the Chief Minister said government had enhanced the authorised limit of work being executed in Gram Panchayats from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh with a view to generate more sources of income by way of commission to technical assistants.
Mr Dhumal said earlier technical assistants were getting two percent commission against the developmental works estimated up to Rs 50,000 which had now been enhanced to Rs 1.5 lakh authorizing a commission of 1.5 per cent over the same.
The Chief minister said there were about 878 technical assistants empanelled in the state which were supervising the Gram Panchayats development activities and more eligible technical assistants in civil would be empanelled on need basis to give momentum to development activities in rural areas.
'' Government had already sanctioned the 40 posts of civil engineers to supervise the development activities in rural areas and process was in progress to carry recruitments for the same on contract basis'', Mr Dhumal said.
