HC admits Somaiya's petition against load shedding
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today admitted a petition filed by former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya against load shedding in the eastern suburbs of Mulund-Bhandup here.
Mr Somaiya, in his petition, alleged discrimination against the people of Mulund-Bhandup areas.
The BJP leader had undertaken a campaign of signed letters among the local people, whereunder he had collected more than 25,000 individual letters of the people, which he has annexed to the petition.
In the petition, he has questioned the Maharashtra government's discriminatory attitude, asking why it was discriminating the people of Mulund and Bhandup only in case of load shedding among other parts of the metropolis? He has also asked why was this discriminatory attitude being practised when the Prime Minister had assured more power to the city. Despite the Prime Minister's assurance, Bhandup and Mulund residents had to undergo load shedding unlike in other parts of the city, he stated in the petition.
