RS pays homage to former member Sarojini Babar
New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today paid homage to former member and noted writer Sarojini Babar, who died on April 20 at the age of 89 years.
In an obituary reference, Chairman Hamid Ansari said,'' a litterateur, Dr Babar was associated with various educational and cultural institutions. Dr Babar served as chairman of the Maharashtra State Folklore Committee, Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad and Maharashtra Lok Sahitya Parishad. She was also the editor of the 'Samaj Sikshan Mala' published from Pune.
''In the passing away of Dr Sarojini Babar, the country has lost a distinguished litterateur and an able Parliamentarian.'' The House observed silence as a mark of respect.
Dr Sarojini Babar represented the state of Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha from April, 1968 to April, 1974.
