Replying to a question, Mr Rangasamy said the benefit of the reduced Sales Tax was not reaching the people.
He said construction materials were being sold at a reasonalble rate through the cooperative building centre here and added steel was being sold at Rs 100 less per tonne.
Steps were also being taken to import cement from Pakistan and sell it at Rs 215 per bag through PASIC.
