Kohima, Apr 24: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said that his Government will continue to work and support the cause of the Nagas in Myanmar for due political recognition.

According to sources in the Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF), Mr Rio said this during the Central Executive Council(CEC) meeting of the NPF, which was held at its party headquarters here yesterday and said that the State Government and alliance parties of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland(DAN) will support the cause of the "Eastern Nagas" in Myanmar so that they get due political recognition and political right from the Government of that country.

He, however, said such recognition and rights should be within their traditional territory in Myanmar.

He said that Myanmar authorities have been neglecting the Nagas and the Nagas here should collectively voice their support for them so that they can come up at par with other Naga community. He also asked the junta in Myanmar to declare truce with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland(Khaplang) operating in Myanmar. The outfit had its council headquarters in Myanmar.

On the reconciliation process among the Naga factions, Mr Rio has urged all sections of Naga people to work towards this for unity among Naga national workers (undergrounds).
