MCL to set up Medical college in Talcher
Bhubaneswar, Apr 24 (UNI) Public sector Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, today agreed to establish a Medical College and Hospital at Talcher in Orissa.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik proposed the setting up of a medical college to Coal India Chairman Partha Sarathi Bhattacharaya and MCL Chairman S R Upadhaya, who met him at the state secretariat.
The Coal India Chairman agreed to the proposal and said the 100 -bedded hospital of the MCL at Talcher would be upgraded to 400 -bedded Hospital to establish Medical College.
Mr Bhatacharaya later told mediapersons that he had a discussion with he State Revenue Minister and promised to sort out all the problems relating to the displaced families.
He hinted that a new Rehabilitation and Resettlement policy for the MCL would be formulated soon in which the displaced persons would be given the option to chose the suitable compensation package.
