New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) In a major success, police today arrested within hours of the commission of crime a man from Najafgarh area of south-west Delhi for allegedly murdering his 25-year-old wife and attempted murder of his daughter.
Raju, 32, was arrested after he broke down during sustained interrogation today, said the police after questioning him at his Najafgarh residence.
The accused, a sweetmeat maker, killed his wife last night following an argument with her over her alleged relations with one of his shop associates, Pappu.
Last night while working for a party, Raju sent Pappu to fetch a fan but when Pappu returned after an hour he suspected foulpaly and rushed home to confront his wife.
An argument ensued after which he slit her throat and stabbed her in the stomach.
Raju also slit the throat of his seven-year-old daughter who was a witness to the 'fight'.
However, two of their three children aged five and two-and-a-half year old were safe in the other room.
The girl was rushed to to the hospital by the police and is reportedly out of danger.
As a rouge to cover-up his action Raju called the police at 0035 hrs saying his wife had been robbed of Rs 20,000 at his house and later killed by unidentified people.
