Chandigarh, Apr 24 (UNI) The Haryana State Election Commission has decided to prepare, amend and bring up-to-date the ward wise list of voters of the Gram Panchayats and Panchayat Samitis.
This will be done on the basis of relevant parts of the assembly electoral rolls published on January 25 for the Panchayat bye-elections to fill up the vacancies of 244 seats of Panches, 32 offices of Sarpanches of Gram Panchayats and seven wards of Panchayat Samitis all across the state.
Stating this here today, a State Election Commission spokesman said these seats had fallen vacant as a result of death of elected members, because of resignations, seats where no nomination papers were received in the previous election and as a result of the disqualifications or removals made by the competent authorities.
He said the draft lists of voters of the Gram Panchayats and Panchayats Samitis would be prepared from April 29 to May 5 by adding in the existing lists of voters, the names of the voters included in the Assembly Electoral Roll as published on January 25, 2008 which were not entered in the existing Panchayat list of voter with breference to January 1, 2008 as the qualifying date.
