Mandi, Apr 24: A government school in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh has only one teacher, affecting the studies of the students, their parents today said.
As against a sanctioned strength of eight teachers, Government Middle School at Gavahan village in the remote Darang segment of the district has only teacher at present, they said.
The parents said the future of the students, who were being forced to while away their time by going to school and coming back without being taught there, was in a jeopardy due to the lack of teachers in the school.
The situation has deteriorated further following a change in the state government after the assembly elections with the teachers getting themselves appointed to schools of their choice, instead of being posted in this school, they added.
Parents of the children in adjoining villages also alleged that there was a large number of vacancies of teachers in schools which was adversely affecting the studies of their children.
