Shimla, Apr 24 (UNI) Four candidates have applied for Congress ticket for contesting the Hamirpur parliamentary by-elections on the last day of submitting their application with the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), party sources said today.
Ranjit Singh Verma, M R Rana, Tara Chand Chaudhary and O P Rattan have filed their application with the party for contesting the Hamirpur parliamentary elections on May 22, the sources told UNI here.
Yesterday, the BJP had almost finalised the name of Mr Anurag Thakur, state Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal's son and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) president for contesting the by-elections.
The party's State Election Committee (SEC) has forwarded its recommendation to the Central Election Committee (CEC) for formally announcing his name.
The bypolls for the parliamentary constituency are being held following resignation by Mr Dhumal who has taken over as the state's Chief Minister after the last assembly elections late last year.
